16, 2007 - 6:00 PM Dobson Administrative Conference Room. Enter at the
flagpole. in the middle of the school, Entries: Each school will
enter two doubles teams and two single players (six players). Bring
your Entry Sheet filled out or fax it, 472-3075, by noon on Wednesday,
Oct. 17 ... bring your birds too. Coaches Meeting: 8:30 AM in the
PE Classroom on Friday, October 19th. Shuttlecocks: Each school will
furnish one dozen unused shuttlecocks which have been dampened and
wrapped the day prior to the tournament Rules: 5A and AIA rules
shall be followed in all region play. The current NAGWA Badminton Rule
Book will be used.

1. Matches are numbered.
Play will be continuous. As soon as one match is finished, the next
match will start. Players will be defaulted if they are not ready to
play within 5 minutes after the match is called. 2. During all matches,
players are to remain on the court. If an emergency arises, the players
will go to the back of the court and raise their racket. 3. Only players and
officials are permitted on the court s during competition. 4. There is a 90 second
break between the first and second game of every match with coaching
allowed. The coaching must be done on the court (the coach must come
onto the court to the player). The 5 minute break with coaching between
a second and third game of a match remains in force. 5. For split sets,
there will be a five minute time allotment. A player may leave the court
during this time and confer with their coach. Players, parents, or
coaches may not coach other players during the match. 6. After a match,
winners must promptly return used shuttles and score sheets to the head
table. 7. Warm-up is limited
to 5 minutes. 8. Substitution may
take place up to the players' first match provided the substitute player
has not been placed in another position within the tournament. 9. The East Valley
Region Tournament will qualify the four singles and four doubles teams
for the state tournament. 10. Awards: A 5A East
Valley Region Championship Team Trophy will be presented to the team
with the best record in region play. 11. All players should
arrive at the tournament in uniform, locker room facilities will be
provided if needed. 12. Unsportsmanlike
conduct will not be tolerated on the courts. Use of profanity on the
court, or verbal intimidation toward an opponent will result in disqualification
and forfeiture of the match. 13. For seeding meeting
purposes, season record is to be compiled only from matches against
East Valley opponents at the designated position (i.e.. record at #1
position). If you played an East Valley Region opponent on more than
one occasion, only the last meeting will count. Please copy the attached
information sheet for seeding and bring one completed sheet for each
of your four entries to the seeding meeting. If this form is not completed,
your entries will not be seeded. 14. All schools
must fill out the Regional Entry Sheet which will accompany any seeding
sheets you also wish to enter.
